effective temperature

Effective temperature:
Effective  day and night temperature in relation to cropping season are discussed here. In Pakistan two crops I.e kharif (summer) and rabi (winter) are generally grown. May to September can be taken as the main duration of kharif crop growth and November to March as of rabi crop. In the indus plains and in the desert of Thar and Cholistan the night effective temperature is around 29°C upper sindh & South Punjab around 31°C. In mountain areas this temperature is controlled by elevation being as low as 17°C at Kalat. The effective day temperature is around 35°C in  Indus plains. However in South Punjab interior sindh and adjoining sibbi and lasbela districts it goes above 38°C in one or more months between  May to August. Else where this temperature is controlled by elevation fallingas low as 26°C at kalat.
Effective day temperature = Mean daily maximum -(mean daily range)/4
Effective night temperature=Mean daily minimum+(mean daily range)/4!!!
