Itbis a type of commercial agricultural practiced in the tropical land of south east Asian and central and south america. Plantation was developed in the tropics by European and north Americans. Large areas were cleared in the tropical forest and single crops were planted. Common plantation crops are cocoa,oilpalm,sugarcane,rubber,bananas, tea,coffee and tobacco. Plantation required a large input of capital to clear the land and build and infrastructure roads building irrigation etc. Plantation did not disappear with independence of colonies most are now owned by either multinational companies or are state run companies.
