THE TOWN LIFE AND THE COUNTRY LIFE

THE TOWN LIFE AND THE COUNTRY LIFE:
Every thing is this world has its own merits and demerits. Nothing is perfect in this world. Perfection lies only in God. So, town life, and country life have also their own advantages and disadvantages. Things, pleasures, scenes, entertainment, and recreations which one finds in cities are not available in country side and vice versa.
There goes a saying that God that first made the country and then the city came. This sums up the belief that even God resides in villages in a country side. Why? Because villages and country side breath the fresh air of nature, the cool breeze. The villagers got fresh vegetables and get which is nourishing. Moreover, a village got free from the din and dust, noise and clamor smoke and heat of the cities. A villages is near to nature and thus nearer to God. The villages people are innocent and lead a simple life. They are not aware of the practices which go in towns and cities. A village is the very embodiment of simplicity and a symbol of God's bountifulness.
The country side is superior to town in many other ways. The lush green fields, the vast meadows the groves of trees, the lovely landscape the farmer working in their fields reaping the crops and chirping of birds are scenes and sights at once elevating and cheerful. Peace which is found in the villages urban people can never think of it. Simplicity is there everywhere in the villages. Their lives are very simple. They live like a family. They have common pleasure and grief.
But there are certain other things which one does not get in villages. These can only be found in town, cinemas, telephone, television, refrigerators, are some of facilities which are found only in towns and cities. The mean of entertainments and recreation and other centers of art, culture and civilizations are found in cities. The villagers are quite ignorant of the trends which are prevalent among the city dwellers. They enjoy all the modern facilities. They live a very comfortable life they can get whatever they wish.
Moreover, the smoky atmosphere, the dirty and noisy roads, the insanitary conditions of cities because of factories and industries the lack of good diet and fresh air are some of the deficiencies and very town life. The cities dwellers have to live in narrow streets and very small houses. They have no proper ventilation system in their houses. The people are move and the capacity is limited.
Thus, company life and town life stand in a striking contrast. The facilities of one are the drawbacks of the other and vice versa. City people are cultured, civilized and cleverer than their counter parts dwelling in village. But still, the life of small village is worth enjoying because which are conspicuously absent from the life in the towns.........

advertisement

ADVERTISEMENT:
Some wag once parodied the famous saying great are the uses of adversity. "I thus great the uses of advertisement." And they certainly are both to the producer and consumer. Of course, there is a great deal of truth in the saying that good quality and honest workmanship are the best advertisement and Thomas Carlyle makes merry with a London hatter who made huge model hats seven feet high and sent them round the London streets as an advertisement by saying that he would have done better if he had sued the money he thus wasted. In making better hats to sell. But in these days of far extended trade, there is no doubt that advertisement is necessary to make the existence of even first class goods known. And even goods that are already well known must still be advertised  as Cman, the well known mustard manufacture found to his cost when he tried to save money by stopping his advertisement: for his sales went down at once. In this age of cut throat competition it is the man who shouts the loudest that attracts attention. And the consumer would  not know of the existences of many good things, if they were not advertised. So even well established businesses have to spend thousands of pounds a year in advertising or they will not sell their goods.
It is really advertisements that make newspaper possible. Great journalists draw the greatest part of their profits from advertisement and many smaller paper could not appear at all but for the income they derive from this source.
Advertisement has now become an art and there are business entirely devoted to supplying firms with striking advertisement.
But advertisement has its abuses. Many advertisement are meant to deceive., and do for a time deceive the public by puffing worthless goods, or glossy exaggerating the quality of inferior articles. There is only one consolation this connection that a lying advertisement cannot sell worthless stuff a long: for the people who buy it will not buy it will not buy it a second time. As Abraham Lincoln said, " you can take in all people part of time and you can take in some people all the time but you cannot take in all the people all the time."
Advertisement also are often an eyesore. The craze for huge advertisement vulgarises  many pretty country places and disfigures the streets to the towns....

THE INDEPENDENCE DAY

THE INDEPENDENCE DAY:
This day reminds us of attainment of freedom from foreign rule. On this day the British left the sub- continent and handed over the reins of the government to the national government of free Pakistan. This day marks the triumph of those Pakistani national lists and patriots who struggled hard even sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the motherland.
This year also the independence day was celebrated in my town. Early in the morning there was procession sang in that calm atmosphere of the dawn such songs as were reminiscent of the brave deeds of Pakistani heroes. People were in  their cheerful moods.
Then at 7 a.m. the national flag was hoisted at the university grounds. People came to witness this ceremony. The flag was unfurled by our local dignitary who is the health minister in the Punjab government. After hoisting the flag, the visiting dignity gave a powerful speech in which he described the progress of Pakistani planning during the last forty eight years. His speech was to the point and inspiring. He also paid glowing tributes to the Pakistani martyrs. He encouraged the people for undergoing further hardship in order to preserve the freedom of the country. Last of all the national anthem was played. The people the dispersed.
Independence day celebrations are of great importance. Oh this day flags flutter on all government offices. At night illuminations are also made. The building are lit up with electric bulbs which give a charming sight. A large number of people enjoy the lighting at night.
There was a great enthusiasms among people. All were in their spirits. Parties were given and invitations extended. Radio and T.V. present special program on this day.
This day indeed, is one of the important days in the history of free Pakistan. It is celebrated in every town and city of Pakistan with great gusto. Processions are brought out. Seminars are held. The whole nation enjoys the day and makes a pledge to strength the country...........

fashion

FASHION:
Students all over the world are day by day becoming more fashion conscious. The young students, both boys and girls want to dress themselves in the most modern designs of the latest fashion.
These fashion are introduce by fashion designers to boost the sales of their dresses . Fashion has a tendency to spread like wild fire and very soon it is adopted by all the young girls and boys in the schools and colleges.
Big dress making firms and cloths mill employ fashion designers and beautiful models to popularised their dresses. Fashion parades and shows are held in big five star hotels to exhibit the latest dresses.
There was a time in the past when it was thought that only the females have a monopoly over fashion. But now a days it is not so. Because both the boys and the girls are crazy after the fashions. The latest fashion is to wear uni-sex dresses can be worm both by the boys and girls.
Paris, London and Hollywood are the centers of the latest fashions. It is said that in Paris which is the home of fashion which is the home fashion it changes very fast. In Pakistan, Lahore , Karachi, Islamabad, etc, are big fashion center. In Pakistan students copy fashions from the films which are made in Lahore and other films centers.
Fashion can be used for anything for dress, hairstyle shoes, manners of etiquette in all sphere of his life. Some persons may be crazy to wear fashionable clothes, others to keep fashionable hair styles, or to keep an expensive library, while others may adopt fashion in their speech and manner. Again in fashion nothing is stable and eternal. Here everything changes fast like the law of nature.
The students in Pakistan have become quite fashionable now a days. The students are the most fashion conscious person in the society. In a college campus one can find both girl and boys students dressed in all types of fashionable clothes. The girl students wear fashionable dresses like beautiful butterflies. The boys also try their best to look like film actors. The girl students also dresses up to look like the most popular heroines like Mehwish Hayat  and Mahira Khan.
The students in Pakistan learn all their fashion from the films. Even going cinema is also fashioned a good pastime among the college students. The most fashionable among them like to see the latest foreign to their favorite Hollywood actor and actresses. The students like to see the latest Pakistani films in the town on the very first day and the first show. Thus the students try ti imitate the actions dresses, hairstyles, of their favorite heroes and heroines.
Some highly fashion conscious students spend a very long time on their fashionable make up. They posses the latest information regarding films and fashions. But if you talk to them about their text books, they will be dumb founded. Those students who do not wear fashionable dresses in the colleges are regarded ad backward and outcast. Poor students who cannot afford themselves the luxury of fashion mostly remain under inferiority complex.
Generally, those students who spend a lot of time on their makeup and fashion do not taker their studies seriously. They have no time even to remove the dust settled on their books. Some students have also the wrong idea that fashion only means wearing expensive clothes and other costly things,. Very expensive clothes do not make a person fashionable. One can looks market and fashionable on simple clothes also. In fact simplicity is the best fashion.
If the students waste their precious time only on fashion at the cost of their studies, it is not a good  thing because it is so good to look as models actors and actresses while neglecting one's studies. The main aim of the students in going to the college campus is not learning new fashion only but acquiring knowledge for their future career/.....

CHEERFULNESS

CHEERFULNESS;
A cheerful person is always more disposed to be happy than to be miserable. He looks at the bright side of things and thus often derives pleasure from circumstances which would depress the spirits of an ordinary man. This being the case to say that cheerfulness promotes happiness, is as much a truism as to say that justice leads to the doing of just acts, and that cheerfulness promotes happiness more than the anything else in the world. The cheerful beggars is far happier than the melancholy millionaire. As sources of happiness neither wealth nor fame nor beauty nor power nay not even health itself, can for a moment be compared with a cheerful disposition. As a rule, health and cheerfulness are associated together in the same persons but in the rare cases when this is not so we find that health fails to secure happiness and that a confirmed invalid may be happy in spite of weakness and bodily pain. There are many delicate women, condemned by that seemed a cruel fate to pass their lives on a sofa, who have by their cheerful endurance pf the inevitable,so far conquered fortune as to be happy themselves and make all around them happy. So true it is that our happiness depends on ourselves that is on our minds, far more than on the gifts of fortune.
Another great advantage of cheerfulness is that it enables a man to do better work and prevents him from being easily exhausted. The truth is well expressed by the homely words of the Shakespeare song, that tell us how. A,merry heart goes all the day, the said tries in a mile. The laborer who whistles over his work goes home less tried and can work harder than another who as, he labor broods over real or imaginary troubles. This is also true of intellectual work, which is seriously impaired  by depression of spirits. Therefore, as the cheerful, man is happiness of all the better because of his cheer fullness is is a plan duty for everybody to do his best to cultivate a cheerful spirit.
But some will say that cheerfulness is a gift of nature  and cannot be attained by any efforts of the will. There is a certain amount be attained by any efforts of the will. There is a certain amount of truth in this objection. It is true that some men are born with cheer full disposition and other with a melancholy temperature. Nevertheless it is possible for the cheerful person to make himself more cheerful and for the melancholy man to diminish his tendency to depression of spirits.
The two best means for the attainment of this desirable end are plenty of congenial work, and attention to the rules of health. Although as was said above, it is possible for the healthy to indulge in melancholy, it is almost always found that improvement of health promotes cheerfulness. Avery large part of the melancholy in the world is due to preventable indigestion. The connection between cheerfulness and regular occupation is not quite so close, but experience of life shows that the greatest depression of spirits is to be found among those who either won't work or unfortunately cannot get work. Therefore if we wish to be cheerful we must be careful of our health and avoid idleness. By so doing as shall become more cheerful, and the effect will react on the cause for we shall find that in its turn our cheerfulness will improve our health and the quality of our work.........

BRAVERY

BRAVERY:
Before considering real bravery it will be well to distinguish it form false bravery. One kind of false bravery arises from ignorance of danger. If an infant should play with a cobra, it would be absolutely free from fear, and would do what brave men would fear to do: but we ought not to call it brave, for it has no appreciation of the danger. Yet such fearless is often mistaken for real bravery. If the want of recognition of danger is due to intoxication the quality displayed is sometimes called dutch courage, because the drink that was served out to troops before an attack was usually dutch rum. Another spurious from of courage is actually due to fear, as when a solider stands his ground in a battle because he fears the punishment which will be inflicted on him if he runs away. In such cases the stronger fear overcomes the weaker fear, and surely the man who is actuated by any kind of fear cannot be said to be displaying bravery.
We now pass on to the consideration of true courage. The simplest form of courage is constitutional courage, which shows itself in the absence of trembling and of other signs of fear in the face of great danger. When Louis XVI was being led to execution he is said to have exclaimed.
Am i afraid fell my pulse. His steady pulse, when he was on the point of dying a terrible death, showed that he was physically have. One of the most striking instances of constitutional bravery to be found in history is Nelson. In his childhood on one occasion he happened to have lost himself, to the great alarm of his parents. On his being found when wonder was expressed that fear had not driven him home, he replied. Fear i never saw fear. What is it?  All though his life he showed himself absolutely insensible to fear. His spirits rose in the hour of danger, and when the enemy's collected.
It is however possible for a man to be constitutionally and nevertheless to be brave. Indeed the bravery of a man who by determined resolution, rises superior to his fears, is perhaps the highest kind courage. Such was the courage of Turenne, one the greatest French generals. Once when he was going into battle, he felt himself trembling all over. But instead of yielding to his physical wait and see what you will have to go through presently.
The excess of courage is condemned as foolhardiness. A man is fool hardly who for, some trifling object run into great danger. When a sailor jumps out a an express train to recover his hat, or smokes his pipes over a powder magazine, then instead of being praised for his carelessness of danger, he is rightly blamed for foolishly risking his life....

STRIKES

STRIKES;
A strike is the refusal of an organized body of workmen to continue their work except on certain conditions. Some people denounce strikes as always wrong and foolish, and even say they should be forbidden by law and put down by force. Such people know nothing of the history of strikes, nor of the great benefits they have secured for the working classes.
Strikes are a natural result of our modern industrial system. They came into fashion with the present age of machinery and large factories. Before workmen had learned the secret of combination they were at the mercy of their rich and powerful employers who kept wages low and forced them to work long hours.  They could do this because each individual workman , poor and ignorant, was no match for a rich and influential employer. If he did not agree to the employer's hard term,he could be dismissed, for there were dozens ready ti take his place. He must submit or starve. Them the workmen learnt that unity was strength and they banded themselves into organized societies called trade union formerly when a single workman demanded higher wage, he was promptly kicked out but when all the workmen in a factory struck in a body or refused to work, unless higher wages were given  the employer usually had to given in sooner or later, or ruin his business. There is no doubt that the trade union armed with his powerful weapons, the strike have secured enormous benefits for the working class higher wages, shorter hours, better conditions of work, and better housing.
But of course there are evils and dangers connected with strikes. Even when they are successful they case a lot of suffering to the workmen themselves, great damage to trade and industry and much inconvenience and hardship to the public and when they fail they often make matters worse. Some times, they are unjustifiable and tyrannical. In fact we may say that they like, wars are necessary evils in the present state of society. They are indeed, industrial battles. Sometimes war is necessary , it is always a calamity and so are strikes. It will be blessing when all industrial disputes and all international quarrels, are settled by arbitration.....
