DISARMAMENT

DISARMAMENT:
Every nation is spending lots and lots of money in maintaining an army in furnishing it with up to date weapons, and in producing highly powerful and destructive armaments such as the inter continental ballistic missile known shortly as I.C.B.M and the atom bomb. No nation however seems to fell safe for to other nations are progressing in  this destructive ace for armaments.
Today the world is divided into two sharp camps or power blocs. One is the U.S.S.R and other communist countries and the other comprising the U.S.A. great Britain, France and  their allies. The U.S.S.R and the U.S.A. have reached special heights of efficiency in the design and manufacture of powerful weapons. And though the two nations were allies in World War, they are now mutually suspicious of each order.
The United Nations, which was brought into existence on the ashes of the League of nations is seriously concerned with this problem. If by the slightest chance, my any nation provokes another to war there is no knowing what many happen in the next few hours. Atom bombs and I.C.B.M's may fly in all directions wreaking havoc on whole world affecting not only belligerent nations but also non-belligerent countries. So disarmament is talked of . Mutual suspicion the annihilating effects of a war, they are nevertheless now where near reaching an agreed and practical solution.
In between these two power blocs, exists another group of nations which may be called the neutral block. The leaders of those nations alive to the annihilatory effects of a global, war are bending their energies and efforts to bring the heads of the two blocs together in a bid to be non aligned to discuss this problem. Today strained relations between the U.S.S.R and U.S.A. impede such a meeting. But all the world hopes that, in a short time the forces of reason and good will will assert themselves and bring about a lasting solution to the problem of disarmament......

THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A KETTLE

THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A KETTLE;
I am a small black, but i have a lot of interesting things to tell as every days something new happens to me.
The kitchen is not always a cheerful place in which to live, but still i find plenty of excitement there, and i am quite happy and contented with my lot.
I am not beautiful because i have a long neck ans as old fashioned hat. The tea pot makes fun of my long neck. She also ridicules of my hat. You see my hat sits rights on my head where n should be. Only the other day my neighbor teased me about my dirty face. What does it matter if my face is sometimes dirty? I am always clean within. Let me remind my friend as she smilingly sits upon the hob, that she cannot sit upon the fire and sing as i do.
I faces different situation everyday. I find it a great trial to have a cold bath every morning and every evening. Oh dear! I am cold the one minute and hot the next. However, i have become used to that.
I am, quite friendly with the poker, but i have no use for the tongs. "Where are your legs?" said the tongs one day. Well in my opinion, it is much better to have a large body and no legs than a pair of legs like stilts and no body,,.....

OUR COLLEGE CANTEEN

OUR COLLEGE CANTEEN:
All the corridors of the college should lead to canteen but unfortunately. It is one corner of the college. It has a small window through which the contractor supplies us everything. For the last some days, our principal has allowed a stall of polka ice cream. There are two other counters for books and stationery and beverages. It is only the parents who visit the stationery counter. The students go there only under compulsion. Their most favorite haunt is the ice cream vendor. The students flock round it and buy it in different colors sizes. Their mouth waters and they want to break the queue to have it first. The second favorite counter is that of beverages. The wash down their lunch with some cola or a cup of tea. They sip it slowly so that, it can last for the whole period. As the bottle starts showing its bottom their speed also decreases. They such the last drop with a heavy heart as if it is the end of their friendship with bottle.
The third counter to attract a small crowd is the place where they get snacks. Toffees and chocolates are in great demand. Some students, who miss their lunch box at home, take bread pakoras  or slices and cakes. Some teachers also make a bee line for this counter. Every one is in a hurry. There is a rule of come first, get first but the students do not follows it. They always hand over money to the students who are just near the counter and ask them to purchase the snacks for them. As the recess period is over, they leave their disney land with a heavy heart. The students go their way to the class rooms. One can see gloom written large on their face. They get themselves ready to attend the last period willy-nilly..

DIARIES

DIARIES:
To keep a diary regularly day by day is a capital training in methodical habits. Many having made up their minds to keep a diary, begin writing with great zeal and fluency for a few days, as long as they are carried on by the novelty of the idea: but a time they got tired of their  self impressed task, and their industry begins to flag. When this happen, the dairy gradually becomes scantier and  and more irregular until at least weeks and months are allowed to pass without any entry being made.
The best way to avoid this lame and impotent conclusion is to fix a definite time every for writing the dairy and not to allow oneself to be diverted to anything else at the appointed time. It is also well to restrain our inclination to write at great length at the commencement of the dairy so that  we may be less likely to take a distaste to the work and may be the better able to keep our resolution of making regular entries every day. in this way we shall give due important in our chronicle to the successive events of our life and find our dairy a source of pleasure and of profit.
When we writing letters, we often find our ideas fail us and are unable to think of anything not write about. In such a strait as this, a reference to our dairy, if it has well been kept, is sure to suggest something that is likely to interest our friends, and we are saved from the necessity of sending off a meager letter not worth has price of its postage-stamp.
A dairy is also of great use to a student, as it enables him to take periodical retrospects of his work. Macaulay in his diary kept a record of the books he read. If we fellow the same excellent practice, it will help us every now and then to look back and determine whether we have been washing our time or not.
A diary should also make us more accurate than we could otherwise be. It is surprising what unprecise statement men make sometimes about their own past experience. A great safeguard against such inaccuracy is to have an account of what we actually saw and did, clearly recorded in black and white.
In all these ways the keeping of a diary may be found to be profitable employment of one's leisure. It is also likely to be a source of pleasure to future years, when by its help we recall to mind some half-forgotten episode of the past, and in imagination live over again the happy days that are gone. The diaries of eminent men, besides giving pleasures to their authors are full or interest to the world generally. The lately published journal of Walter Scott enables us more thoroughly to understand and admire the character of the greatest of novelist. The diary of Pepys is not only delight full reading for an idle hour, but also is of great value to the historian from the flood of light it throws upon the day of Charles II.

A VISIT TO THE RADIO STATION

A VISIT TO THE RADIO STATION:
We visit many places in life still a visit to the radio station is always memorable. It is an important place which we cannot visit whenever we like. There is a definite producer for visiting the place.
I visited the radio station Lahore, last week. My friend brought two passes, one for visiting the radio station and the other for admission to one of his programs. This was broadcast in the presence of an invited audience.
I accompanied my friend an eight in the morning. We reached the radio station at half past eight. It is a big and beautiful building, neat and attractive. It has a large reception hall. One can hardly keep account of the rooms. There are many signboards and name plates displaying the names of the sections and their officers.
For the first time i was the announcer's room. It is soundproof. No sound of any kind can enter its door. I also saw the recording room where a program was being recorded. I also visited the drama section. The rehearsel of a play was going on there. It was a very interesting experience to see the actors working hard to catch and convey the spirit of the play.
Next we went to the section which keeps every thing going over the air without a fault. It was the  technical section. Engineers were busy here, looking after numerous machines. They make the different channels work. The transmitter work faultlessly because of these people.
After having a good of these sections we come to the place where we were to watch the program. It was a spacious room with a small platform. The artists were occupying the platform while the rest of the room was occupied by the audience. Soon we heard the voice of announcer who announced that the program was going to start. Immediately the program the started. It was a humorous skit packed with fun and laughter. The show lasted for  fifteen minutes. It was a highly enjoyable program.
At its end we cake out. I had now seen the radio station and watched a live program also. I therefore, come home satisfied and the memory of that day is still fresh in may mind....

A MORNING WALK

A MORNING WALK:
It is not easy to leave the bed early in the morning. I normally go to sleep when the T.V. studio closes down for the night. The proverb early to bed and early to rise seems to be very old. My father is a very hard task master. He makes me wake up early in the morning and starts teaching me mathematics. I reminded him of the advantages of morning walk, so he asked me to dress up in shirt and shorts and get ready for a morning walk.
Our locality is very famous for its parks. I was surprised to see so many people crowding in the park. Cool breeze was blowing. The green leaves of the tress were whispering in the wind. The birds had left their nests and were flying away in every direction. The sunrise was a glorious birth. It was pleasant to see the first rays of the sun touching the earth. At first the sun looked like an orange colored but gradually covered itself with beautiful beams.
In one corner of the park children were playing with a small ball. Some young boys were running in a circle. There were others who were taking various exercises. In another corner, a judo teachers was teaching judo exercises. The learners were raising their hands and legs in a balanced manner. He asked them to laugh. All of the then laughed so loudly than i could not control my own laughter.
A flag was fluttering in one corner. Some young and old, persons saluted the flag and sang a patriotic song. All of them were wearing white shirts and brown shorts. They all belonged to the N.C.C. and were learning material arts.
My father asked me to run two rounds of the whole park. It was thrilling to run a few steps but it was not ready for me to complete two rounds. After running a few steps. I returned to my father and told him that there was little time left for the study of mathematics. I was between two devils learning mathematics and running a race. My father agreed and we returned home....

A WALK IN MOON LIGHT

A WALK IN MOON LIGHT:
The moon is the queen of night and splendor of starry heavens. A walk in a moon lit night is really a refreshing and fascinating adventure. Strolling in a moon lit night is pleasant and delightful in ways more than one.
Walking in moon lit night does not merely remove the weariness and boredom of the hectic day but it also elevates our spirit, enlivens our soul and refreshes our mind. The atmosphere during a moon lit night is surcharged with calmness and quietness if we walk country side which is away from the fever and fret noise and clamor of cities. Moreover, the cool air, the cool and bracing beams of the moon, kissing  each and every object of nature present a charming sight. One really feels thrilled and throbbed. One feels a sense of joy. These comes the freedom of mind, of thoughts and of ideas.
A moon lit night delights our hearts and soul. The tranquil surroundings in a country side or distant land spaces present a lovely scene. The moon shines like a light house to guide us in the dark night. And in such a night away from the din and dust of cities, in the company of our dearest friends, cutting jokes and chatting with them are all the more alluring pleasures. The stars in the presence of the moon make the moon appear as the guardian of all stars.
The entire nature is clothed in the shinning silvery robes of the moon light. Every object appears, cheerful and mirthful. The flowers emitting sweet fragrance, the petals dancing to the tune of bracing and cool wind the trees whispering in the breeze really render a fascinating spectacle. The green field, flowers and fruits shinning because of the moon becomes are an added attraction.
Indeed a moon lit nights gives a feast to our eyes. The superb sights, scenes and sounds of nature are enchanting. To, play to sing and to talk in such are other great pleasure of a moon lit night.
The memories of a moon lit night are still fresh in my mind and are still haunting my mind. A walk in a moon lit nights is a good experience because we come close to the blossom of nature......

A visit to a circus

A VISIT TO A CIRCUS:
Last month i happened to see a circus in my town. The properties of the circus got a big ground outside the town on rent. This spot was covered with many canopies. Some were mean for the animals. Others for the workers and a huge shamiana was meant for the circus show.
As i went there i saw huge gates having the photographs of tigers, elephants and other animals. The entire place was glittering with lights. I entered the arena. There were many seats. All the seats were packed. Men women and children were anxiously waiting the show to start. Soon the show started.
The first item to be presented was gymnastics. The performances was given by girls. All the girls did marvelous exercise like swings, exchange of swings and walking on a rope.
The second item was a dance by a troupe of girls. The all danced to the accompaniment of a band. This dance performance was highly appreciated by spectators.
Then came elephant, one elephant stood on its hind legs. Another elephant walked over a plank placed on the chest of a man, while one of the elephants cycled.

The shows came in to end at 10. p.m. It was a thrilling circus show. The memories of the scenes are still afresh in my mind. Everybody enjoyed the circus show and that is why they returned with the smiling face...

A VISIT TO HILL STATION

A VISIT TO HILL STATION:
It is a great pleasure to visit a hill station in summer. It was in these months that i visited the Murree hills. I went there to spend a part of my summer vacation. To enjoy this visit fully, i also invited some close friends. We left Lahore for Murree bu bus and reached Rawalpindi at about eleven o' clock. As we knew that Murree was costly place, we purchased many things of daily need from Rawalpindi.
We reached Murree at about 3 p.m. the same day. It was fine cloudy day and the weather was very pleasent. We put up at an old hotel, called the sunny view. After having rested there for a while, we came out to have a view of the hills. It was a new experience for or one was in level with the door of the other. This looked very interesting. The valley below the hills looked like a great cup full of beautiful flowers and flowing streams. On the first day we walked to the Kashmir point and enjoyed ourselves with its cafes and tea houses. I wondered how so many educated and cultured people had come together at such a far off hill station at one and the same time.
In the evening when we were returning to our hotel. It is grew dark and gentle shower of rain began to fall. We hurried back and reached our hotel in ten minutes. Then we changed our dress as it had become quite wet due to rain. The night was quite cold and i had to cover myself with a blanket. Throughout the night it continued raining but when it was dawn the rain stopped. We were very glad to see this sudden change of weather. After our break fast we went out to see the Sanitorium down in the valley. This is a beautiful little spot situated in a fine valley. There are thick forest of pine trees, and entire area is green and charming. There are also many fruit gardens on the slopes. On our way back we crossed two fast flowing streams. The water of these streams was very cold and clean but it was not so deep.
After three day's stay in the hills we returned to Lahore, which was as hot and dry as we hand left it. Any how our shorts visit to the Murree hills was a good change and i shall ever remember the beautiful, sunny view and the Kashmir point. These were perhaps the most well spent days of my life..... :)

A VISIT TO A VILLAGE

A VISIT TO A VILLAGE:
When someone visit a village it seems, that he has come to a different planet. Life moves so fast in city that the resident feel hard to keep pace with it. The automobiles spread smoke every where, Everyone seems to be running from place to place. He may use a car, mobile, or a city transport. Animals and birds seem to have disappeared or migrated to some other lands.
It was my first visit to a village which is not far away from Lahore. Only one bus goes there in the morning and returns in the evening. The passengers had not only put milk drums in the bus but also carried huge bags. Some of them were sitting on the roof. As we passed through the link roads, there were green fields all around. The farmers had sown the winter crop and were watering the plants carefully. I had never come across so much green space anywhere an the city.
The bus stopped near a pond which was giving out a stinking smell, i covered my nose with hand kerchief. We were to reach the school. The lane was covered with mud. As we started. Some cows and buffaloes came from behind. The ran into one another and might have trampled me but i was saved due to my alertness.
An old man was sitting on a cot smoking hookah. Some children were playing around him. It looked as if life had come to a stand still. When i requested a villager to guide me to the school, he asked a small boy to take us there. There was a small building with only two rooms. The students were sitting on coil mats. They were writing on their wooden plates called "Takhties". There was dullness all around. I could not hear noise of any type except the barking of a few dogs.
There were a few well dressed young men who told we that they were employed in the city. They had come there to visit their relatives. I was told that there were no marketing and clinical facilities in the village. I have decided to work for these villages when i grow up.....

TRAVELLING AS A PART OF EDUCATION

TRAVELLING IS A PART OF EDUCATION:
Travelling has always been regarded as a part of young one's education. In olden days it was tradition in Europe that after completing their academic career young men of high families were sent abroad to get training in practical life.
Travelling hives us first hand knowledge which books cannot provide. Books are a mighty bloodless substitute for life says Stevenson and can impart only second hand knowledge at the best. But while travelling abroad, one gets accustomed to bear hardship. He learns the lesson of self independence and self confidence. Thus travelling gives an excellent training for building one's character.
Travelling also brings about an understanding between different nations and links them together in close culture relations. Our world has become one big family on account of the ease and speed provided to us by new means of travel. Good will missions of one country visit another country. In recent years many such missions have come to Pakistan from various countries of the world and the results are very encouraging.
Travelling also serves as a true test for one's strength of character. Our love for good and dislike against be evil depend largely on public raise and blame. At home there is a check if elders and either out of their fear or due to social cheeks we regular our conduct in accordance with the rules of decency. These checks are absent in a foreign and land where no one known as. Thus if we can shoe fellow, felling, courage, generosity, and goodness while travelling among stranger, it mean that we really have a strong character.
World's great Traveler men like Ibnai batuta, Coloumbus and Sadi Shirazi have been men of great renown. They acquired a knowledge above men through travels and became great discoveries poets and experienced men of the world.
Thus we may conclude in every land and through all ages, the importance of travelling had been realized. Therefore, one educationists as well as our social institutions, should give due importance to this aspect of human life....

PLEASURES OF READING

PLEASURES OF READING:
Reading maketh a full man Reading poetry makes a man imaginative whereas arguments prose develop logical thinking. Shakespeare's dramas take us into the world of romance where realism exists by side. Ketats poem open magic casement for us. We learn the ways of the world from the books. These are companions who will never betray if we are faithful to them.
Studies serve for delight for ornament and for ability. When a person has no company books give delight. It serves as an ornament when a person talk to another one. Conversation punctuated by the great writer's opinion becomes impressive. Moreover, through reading books one acquires the capacity to conduct the affair property.
Cunning people misuse their studies simple men admire them but wise people use them. A criminal minded persons commit crimes more cleverly by reading detective novels. On the other hand wise people get good guidance from them in their work. They get success which gives happiness. Studies give difference and confidence overcomes hurdles.
Histories make men wise: poets witty: mathematics subtle: if he cannot be discriminatory let him study philosophy: if one cannot argue one should study the lawyer's cases. So every defect of the mind can be remedied by reading different subjects.
When the harsh realities of life depress us we can read. Arabian nights. For some time we forget that in this world people sit and hear each other's groan. We start feeling that life is a long holiday. Moreover, we cultivate moral outlook by reading novels and dramas. Similarly we may learn more about Joan of are from Shaw's drama saint Joan Pems stirs our emotions and give us a thrill. Though books splendor changed into fragrances.
In short, books are man's real  companions. They never desert man even in trouble. Reading is a very good habit. The people who develop he habit of reading never fail is any field or examination. All the students must develop the habit of reading because it is the only way to become of perfect man.....

STUDENTS AND POLITICS

STUDENTS AND POLITICS:
Politics is the refuge of scoundrels said Dr. Johnson. In fact a politician if he wants to be a success, should either be rogue or become a rogue after entering politics. It is not possible for an honest man to remain in politics for a long time because one has to tell lies, make false promises and think of one's own interest. Despite these negative aspects of politicians it has glamour and attraction. A number of people with the remote hoe of coming to the top ruin their careers. Moreover politics is so much time consuming that it is not possible for a person to devote attention to anything else.
By keeping the above mentioned aspects of politics we can say that students should not take part in the politics. The primary duty of the students is towards their education: they should not indulge in politics because it will divert their attention and make them to follow the wrong path. If they neglect their studies their whole life will be unhappy. Politics would create a tension in their mind and they would always be thinking of staging a show down of the other party. On the other hand studies need a very balanced and patient approach.
By bringing politics to the universities and colleges we will make them unsuitable for helping the nation to progress. Young people are enthusiastic so is their zest for bringing certain changes. They do certain things which may not be in the larger interest of the country. Politics if indulged in bimmature people may endanger democracy. So it is said that the students being immatured their thinking should never indulge in politics because it is not in the national interest.
Students can easily be exploited by the politician for their persons ends. They try to utilize the youth force for their personal benefit. This tendency is also not conductive to the welfare of the nation. This type of exploitation generally results in violence. In fact the students are not so much interested in politics as the politicians want them to be. The politician generally try to pick up one or the other problem concerning universities or colleges and make the students to agitate against it. The worst part of it is that the college and the university teachers are themselves politicians or they have politician affiliations. So in order to win favor of their patrons they try to make capital out of the situation. Till this interference by the politicians in the affairs of universities or colleges is not stopped it may not be possible to weed out politics from universities and colleges. So students will stop taking part in politics if the politician observe the code of conduct and do not keep their personal interest in mind.
Some may say that complete indifference to politics will make the students politically ignorant. On the other hand in a democratic, state citizens must be politically awake. They may into that till students take part in politics they will not be acquired of good citizens. They should understand politics though they should not take part in it. College unions create unhealthy atmosphere but unfortunately there are patronised by the political parties. Educational institution should be completely free from politics....:)

MY FIRST DAY AT THE COLLEGE

MY FIRST DAY AT THE COLLEGE:
Dreams of the future are always more beautiful and charming than the realities today. As soon as i appeared in the 10th examination. I started thinking of free independent and interesting life of the college. My elder brother used to tell me that life in a college is more a fun than a serious effort to get education. A college is a place for making friends and for chalking out program talk of examinations and tests, strikes are organized. This description of the college life was in sharp contrast to the schools life which i had seen for 12 years. So called discipline for the school had bored me and the attitude of teachers in making us to feel that they know everything upon earth had developed a positive hatred for the school life. That is why i was dreaming of the college life.
The first day at the college was considered to be an important one because there used to be ragging in the college. The seniors would make the new comers to indulge in strange actions. So the seniors had worked out their own strategies and we had decided to act together. So as we entered the college we met a few seniors who were approaching us with an air of superiority. They asked us to stop but subdue immediately. Then they asked us do strange things like singing ridiculous songs and doing monkey pranks. The sense of self dignity in me did not allow me to act according to  their wishes till they forced me to obey their orders. I felt a little humiliated but took it sportingly. Later on we came across a few more groups of the seniors but we were able to outwit them some how or other.
We went to the lecture room and mistaking it for a school we observed some rules of decorum. As soon as the teacher entered we stood up and greeted him. But we found a strange smile on the face of the teacher and it made us think that we have not acted properly. The teacher did not teach for some time and indulged in general gossip. It was quite amusing and there was no strain upon our mind. After some time we moved to another room and we waited there for near about 20 minutes but no teacher turned up. In fact it was a problem to know to which room were we to move. There was nobody to guide us and we were terrible afraid of asking the seniors. After the second bell somebody told us that the classes were over.
As soon as i moved out of the room i started thinking that in the colleges perhaps there is no regular teaching work. We also heard some of the seniors saying that their courses have not been finished and they do not know which books were to be studied by them. This made me think that school life was better where we were forced to work. The college seemed to have lost charm which i have been associating with the college life. They very first day of the college was disappointing day because i did not believe in wasting time unnecessarily.
I had carried a few books with me but could not make use of them. Most of the seniors had neither pen not paper with them heroes and heroines. They seemed to be more interested in fashions than in books. Some of them were smoking out their time in the canteen. All this seemed quite odd.
We were supposed to attend only three periods in on  period the teacher gossiped whereas no teacher turned up during the other two periods. I felt a bit bored. I felt that life at the college is all play and no work but that is also not good for a  healthy outlook. Thus the first day at the college gave me a compete idea of the life over here. It is meaningless and  uninteresting. At this age if person does not work one is bound to suffer throughout. This was lurking in my mind when i took crowded bus home.....!!!!!

farewell party

FAREWELL PARTY:
The day when i was free from my school for appearing in the higher secondary examination will be remembered throughput my life. As our was the outgoing class, so it was bidden farewell by class 10th. The principal fixed the responsibility for making arrangements. The farewell party was given on Sunday.
When i arrived at the school at 3.p.m. I saw that will arrangements were made by the host party. The school hall was beautifully decorated with charts, buntings, flowers and placards. The main table on which the principal and the inspector of schools were to sit,was beautifully decorated with flowerpots. There were many chairs for the outgoing students staff and student of class 10th.
The party began at 4.p.m. for about one hour we ate to our heart's content gossiped and laughed too much. The party came too an end at 5.p.m. The farewell function started after party was over. Mr amir mehmood a student of class 10th made a moving and heart ending farewell speech in which he mentioned our long and deep association with school as well as their class. His speech which was full of praise and appreciation for our outgoing class was delivered in a befitting manner. His farewell speech which was punctuated with humorous remark and pleasantries wishing us success in our future was totally the most touching ONE.
After this speech i on behalf of my class thanked the host and got blessing from my teachers and worthy principal. In my speech. I lauded the good arrangements made by the host and accepted their good wishes and feelings for all of us. When i was delivering the speech. I was deriving a mixed pleasure. I was feeling sad because of the separation from my old and august institution in where lap i got education and training of my mind and body. To me my school was an embodiment of knowledge and learning whose scared atmosphere is a part of my memory. For me this was not merely a school which imparted knowledge, but it was a cradle of culture and civilization.
In the end the reverend principal whose association with the school is as old as the history of this school made and impassioned speech. In  his farewell message, he gave us some please of advice to be followed in our future course of life. He made a fervent appeal to build our mind and character on sound lines. He stressed upon us to inculcate a spirit of service and sacrifice as well as of patriotism and nationalism. After his encouraging speech the function came to an end.
We parted after taking the blessing of our teachers and good wishes of our friends. While going, we cast our longing and lingering looks at this great and noble institution in whose lap we spent the most formative period of our life and living.....:)

FEMALE EDUCATION

FEMALE EDUCATION:
It is the height of selfishness for men, who full appreciate in their own case the great advantages of a good education to deny these advantages to women. There is no valid arguments by which the exclusion of the female sex from privilege of education can be defended. It is argued that women have their domestic duties to perform and that, id they were educated they would bury themselves in their books and have little time for attending to the management of their house hold of course it is possible for women as it is for men to neglect necessary work in order to spare more time for reading sensational novels. But women are no more liable to this temptation than men and most women would be able to do their house hold work all the better for being able to refresh their minds in the intervals of leisure with a little reading. Nay, education would even help them in the performance of the narrowest sphere of womanly duty. For education involves knowledge of the means by which health may be preserved and improved, and enables a mother to consult such modern books as will tell her how to rear up her children into healthy men and women and skillfully nurse them and her husband when diseases attacks her household. Without education she will be not unlikely to listen with fatal results to the advice of superstitious quacks, who pretended to work wonders by charms and magic.
But according to a higher conception of woman's sphere, woman ought to be something more than a household drudge. She ought to be able not merely to nurse her husband in sickness, but also to be his companion in health. For this part of her wifely duty education is necessary for there cannot well be congenial companionship between an educated man and an uneducated wife who can converse with her husband on no higher subjects than cookery and servants wages. Also one of a mother's highest duties is the education of her children at the time when their mind is most amenable to instruction. A child's whole future life to a large extent depends on the teaching it receives in early childhood and it is needles to say that this first foundation of education cannot be well laid by an ignorant mother. On all these grounds female education is vital necessary.
But it is sometimes urged that the intellect of women is so weak as to be incapable of receiving and benefiting by any but the lowest from of education. Such an assertion could hardly be made by any one who considers for a moment the instances afforded by history of women who have shown conspicuous ability in statesmanship, literature, science, and art. The list of women who have by their intellectual power won for themselves an eminent position in history is a long one, and would be still longer if in the past they had enjoyed the same educational advantages as were given to men.
The only real danger to be apprehended from female education arises from an imperfect views of the scope of education. If education is confined to mere book learning there is a danger that women may, from physical weakness, succumb to the intellectual strain put upon them in their studies at college and college. The remedy for this is to remember that physical training is an essential part for education and to allow women the opportunity of strengthening their physical powers by regular exercise, especially by exercise in the open air, so that they have the good health necessary for the profitable prosecution of their studies.....

THE INVENTION I CONSIDER THE MOST USEFUL TO MANKIND

THE INVENTION I CONSIDER THE MOST USEFUL TO MANKIND;
The number of invention of high utility to mankind is so great that it is difficult to decide which is the most important. How can we choose between printing the steam engine, the aeroplane, antiseptic surgery, cholro form and the various inventions connected with electricity such as the telegraph the telephones, wireless telegraphy and electric light? if we judge and invention's utility by the extent of the changes it has brought about in men's thoughts and social life, perhaps the steam engine and the printing press stand first. The printing press has most profoundly influenced men: but the social revolution caused by the steam engine has been more dramatic and can be more easily described.
The steam engine has made the world smaller. It has contracted space and shorted time. By rail and steam ship we can now reach different parts of the world by journeys of hours instead of days and of days instead of months.
With this means travel has become so easy, quick and comparatively cheap, that people of all nations who were formerly confined to their native countries are now diffused all over the globe. The world has got to known itself better national isolation has been broken down, and men of all nations are beginning to feel they all belong to one great family the human size.
The wonder full improvement and extension of the means of communication has led to an enormous increase of trade and commerce, which brings to product of all land to every body's door's.
Above all the steam engine brought about the industrial revolution which resulted in the form of civilization characteristics, of the 19th and 20th centuries. Applied to machinery it made possible the rapid production in enormous quantities of all kinds of useful articles at low prices which brought things, which were luxuries before, within the reach of even the poor. It produced the factory system which means the gathering together thousands of working men in on business and under one control in place of formal small business and this again produced the great modern towns, with their conveniences and their grave social problem....!!:)

THE INDOOR GAME I LIKE THE BEST

THE INDOOR GAME I LIKE THE BEST:
There are many indoor games. Some are ancient like chess and draught and some modern inventions like ludo, tiddlywinks and ping-pong. Some are games of pure chance like some card games and some are games of skill, like chess. All such games are meant as amusement to pass the time but some of them while giving amusement give something more.
I do not much like card games for i think that any game that depends mostly on chance very soon loses its interest. Of course there is a good deal of skill or at any rate memory ans shrewd guessing required in some card games like bridges. But after all luck has a great deal to do with winning for even the best player cannot do much with a bad hand of cards and even the worst must do something with a good hand. And whether we have a good hand or a bad hand is entirely a matter of chance. That is why i suppose people do not as rule care for card game unless they can play for money. Only gambling can keep up an interest in cards.
My favorite indoor game is chess. Practically no chances come into chess it is nearly all pure skill. And this is what gives chess its chief interest. To be a good chess player one must have great patience must be able to look ahead and calculate what the result of every movement will be and one must have great power of concentration. A game of chess is a battle a wresting match between two minds. Although the two player sit perfectly still, and scarcely  speak a word they are engaged in an exciting mental combat. And the cleverest man wins. Chess does not need gambling to make it interesting.
So chess is not a mere amusement though it is very amusing. It is a fine from of mind exercise. It teaches one to think to calculate to look ahead to read other people's thoughts and intentions. Before he dare move a piece the player had to ask himself if i move my knight there, what will be the result? Will my opponent move up his bishop or withdraw his queen or play a pawn? If he does the first will that put my king in danger? If he does the second can i check king? If he does the third will he spoil my attack? and whatever he does what shall i do next? and so on and so on.
So for real excitement and interest and for real mental recreation give me a game of chess. When ever a get a chance. I love to play it...

MY IDEA OF HAPPY LIFE

MY IDEA OF HAPPY LIFE:
Idea of happiness totally depends upon what a person has, if a person does not have wealth he would think that happiness lies in possessing wealth. Another would find happiness in meditation and still others in gossiping. It comes as naturally and as refreshingly as the morning air.
I think one can get happiness by enjoying in the work in hand. If a person keeps himself mentally busy and remains satisfied be can remain happy. Our high hopes and soaring ambition often make us unhappy. If a person thinks that every moment is to be enjoyed like every drop of wine left in a cup, he will definitely be happy.
This type of satisfaction excludes envy and jealousy. One should never think of others happiness, rather one should remain satisfied with what one should have. The habit of comparing and contrasting and the desire to become what other are, often leaves a sorrowful heart.
One can enjoy while watching the birds or kicking his heels upon the ground. One can be happy in catching the butterflies or  by looking vacantly at the beauties of nature. In fact one should find every moment quite absorbing and should always think that every  moment as is possible. Happiness is a state of mind and not a possession. It is a product of imagination and not of labor. It is to be enjoyed through spirit and not through sense. It can be felt and not seen.
If a person can enjoyed peace of mind, his is the happiest life. If we are hankering after the worldly things and desires were remain unhappy. We should do our duty without thinking of the result. Duty which God wishes us to perform should be our aim. Such people will not be over joyed by success or frustrated by defeat.
Similarly life should not be the ultimate aim of living. This is a preparation for the next life. Such ab attitude make us indifferent to the death of our near and dear one's. Though this attitude needs a great control over one's emotion yet this can afford happiness.
Happiness cannot be monopolised by saints. It cannot be the special right of the wealthy people. It is not meant only for a child. Happiness can be enjoyed by a common man. It is around us we are to discover it. A man should tune himself up for it and he will get it.......

HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION

HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION:

A fortnight before the summer break, we stopped taking interest in studies. Everyone of us made an ambition plan to visit some place or the other. But man proposes and good disposes. On the very first day, my mother slipped in the kitchen and broke her ankle. Her whole leg was plastered and she was advised bed rest for three weeks. I had to prepare tea and cook food for the whole family. My friends came to enquire  about her health and i had to serve them as well. I kept company with my mother told her stories and tried to make to happy in every manner. The temperature was rising and the mercury had touched 17 F but there was no way out.
My mother could not stand the moist air of cooler so i had to prespire with her. It was not easy to prepare her bed, serve her food and change her clothes. As no male member could help. I had to bear the burden alone. Whenever she was to be carried to the bathroom. I had to be very care full about the plaster on her leg.
Three weeks were over. We had to carry her to the hospital to get the plaster cut. There was long line of patients and we had to wait in the varandah sitting on the wooden bench. It was a real hell on the earth. The patients were crying with pain. Some were taken on stretchers, other could walk with great difficulty. The doctor told us that plaster was to be respeated. How i wish, it would have been my leg so that i could get bed rest the whole day.
My friends wrote from Swat that they were having nice time. My friends described the pleasant weather of Swat and Kalam. I wish, i could fly like a bird and join them. One of my aunts came all the way from Islamabad to enqurie about the health of my mother. Her younger son was also with her. So i had to look after not only my mother and members of our own family but aunt and her naughty son as well. What if there were no vacation...

MY AMBITION IN LIFE

MY AMBITION IN LIFE:
People have their own dreams in life. Many aspire to be rich or to become business tycoons magnates, big guns. Some persons dreams of becoming leader politicians and social reformers. These are other who have a craze for becoming poets writers and novelists while most of us generally have a  desire of becoming engineers, doctors, and scientists of great repute. There are a very few persons who are happy go lucky by nature and have no clear cut aim in their lives.
As for myself i do not have very ambitious aim in my life. I do not wish to become a mill power owner or a multi millionaire. The sole object of my life is to lead a life of simplicity and goodness devoted to the service of humanity. The life of a professional leaders or a politician does not interest me as a most of such persons have grown parasites on the society.
I am born of middle class parents. From the very beginning. I have been passing through the struggles of life. I have seen cut throat competition in most of the professions. Its consequences have been far reaching people are demo ralised. Example are not wanting when we can find the engineers accepting big bribes lawyers rescuing guilty persons or murders and doctors demanding money from the patients at crucial stages of surgical operation.
Then what do i want to be? Indeed from the core of my heart, i wish to become a teacher. The motto of this life simple living and high thinking inspires me to take up this profession. The noble ideals of the teachers in ancient  times are before me. I am fully aware of the difficult and hard life of a teacher. I know that a teacher is lotted to be poor. He leads a life of drudgery buy in correcting exercise books or answer books of the students. There are no stirring events in his life.
Inspite of these hardships i do not hestiate to become a teacher. I have my own reasons and consideration for this. From my early childhood. I have developed a love for the young children. To me they are delicate and beautiful like the petals of a flower. I feel that as a teacher, i can help the students in widening their outlook by giving them knowledge. I will have the satisfaction of doing invaluable service to the country by producing better citizens. Moreover the company of the young children can even help me in remaining young and fresh in thoughts and outlook. Besides rendering all these important services. I will also have the means of subsistence. I have a great faith in the life of a noble and ideal teacher, because teachers are the custodians of the highest value......

memories of childhood

MEMORIES OF CHILDHOOD:
The memories of childhood have their own significance in one's life. As one grown up one feel more and more attached with his childhood, the best period of man's life. A child has no worries, anxieties or work. He is free from the dirty and filthy noise of worldly life. His motto of life remains eat, drink and be merry the charm of childhood cannot be forgotten. These memories leave an everlasting impression on one's life.
Same is the case with me. When i recollect the days of my childhood. I feel very much delighted:it was a pleasant period which i spent in high spirits.
In my childhood i was carefree having no worries at all, I used to wander like a deer in the open fields enjoying the natural beauty in the pastures.
There are certain incidents which are still fresh in my memory. For instance at the age of five. I got a serve attack of typhoid. In those days medical science was not so much advanced. In the absence of proper diagnosis. I was reduced to a skeleton. After taking medicine for a sufficiently long period, I was cured. The doctor advised me to go to some hill station. So father took me to Muree.
Once a juggler with two monkeys fell in live with the she monkey. She monkey refused to marry the monkey. The he monkey went to his father in laws house after wearing colorful dress. These were the pranks which attracted me. I fully appreciated the tricks shown by the juggler.
Another incident which i still remember is swimming experience. It was Sunday when i along with  my friends went for picnic to river Ravi. Some of us were expert swimmers but unluckily i did not know how to a swim. My friends dived into the river and compelled me also to to do the same. Soon i was caught by the current of water and was carried away swiftly. There was every possibility of my losing life but the due to the valor of one my friends. I was rescued from the current of water and was brought on the bank. I was really very much grateful to him because he have me a new life.
The memory of the days spent in my childhood is still haunting my mind. Although i do wish that those days full of pleasure may come back yet i know that it is a thing of the past. Time is always on its wings. I cannot enjoy those's days again.
It is this period which has often been praised by poets and writers. Recollecting past is to plunge ourselves in a state of melancholy. Wordsworth the immortal poet of England and a great worship of nature describes in his poems his childhood period which to him was full of pleasantries and pleasure of joy an entertainment.
As i am growing in age. I feel greater attachment and attraction for those days which i had spent in my childhood. I am certain that my desire of enjoying childhood again will never be fulfilled because gone are the good old days when i was a child.....

DastN e mohabbat

Kitne jhoote that hum mohabbat main tum bhi zinda hoo hum bhi zinda hai....
